Travel & Stay

Our wedding venue:

Mt. Hood Organic Farms | 7130 Smullin Drive, Mt. Hood, Oregon 97041

Mt. Hood Organic Farms (MHOF) is an active, 200-acre organic farm just off of Highway 35 in the gorgeous Upper Hood River Valley in north-central Oregon — see map of the venue’s location below.

Where to stay: Hood River, Oregon and surrounding area

Since our venue lacks on-site accommodations, we encourage our guests to seek lodging in the city closest to the venue: Hood River, Oregon. Another viable option is White Salmon, Washington, located directly north of Hood River, along the opposite side of the Columbia River.

Staying in either of these locations or in their nearby vicinity will make it easier for you to get to social events throughout the weekend and to the complimentary shuttles that will take you to/from the venue on Sunday. That said, we support whatever lodging decision works best for you!

Transportation:

(I) Getting to the Hood River area

For our guests not within driving distance, we recommend flying into Portland International Airport (PDX), the closest major airport. The distance between PDX and Downtown Hood River is roughly 60 miles via Interstate-84, as shown in the map below.

Transportation options to/from PDX - Hood River

The route between the Portland airport and the Hood River area is accessible via multiple modes of transportation. We offer some insight on a few of those options below:

  • Via Rental Car

    • This is probably the best option, in our view, just because it’ll make getting around easier! But we understand this might be costly, so please know that you have other options.

    • Car rental companies located onsite or near PDX airport: Alamo Rent A Car, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, National, Payless, Sixt, Thrifty, Zipcar

  • Via Taxi and/or rideshare options (i.e., Lyft, Uber)

  • Via Shuttle

  • Via Bus

    • The Columbia Gorge Express travels to the Gateway Transit Center in Portland several times each day; from there, you can continue on to Hood River via the same bus, called the Columbia Gorge Express. Check out their website for more info.

(II) Getting around within the Hood River area

First, an important announcement: Rideshare services like Uber and Lyft DO NOT function within the Hood River area.A local source notes that “despite being technically legal for one year, rideshare service remains functionally unavailable. Uber’s app shows the area as served but no drivers can be found - even when booking a day in advance”. As a result, guests need to plan accordingly
